How to Delete your Internet Browsing History

Why would anybody want to delete his/her Internet browsing history? Because it is not a very good idea to let other people know about what you have been searching, browsing or what personal information you were entering on third-party sites. Autofill form is the latest in the string of information that is stored by your browser with or without your permission. Just place the cursor in the search box and you may probably see the last 5 entries you have made earlier.

Ensuring your browser history is empty and there’s nothing that gets stored is all more important when you’re using a public computer for booking tickets, placing an online order or doing any other activity. To avoid an awkward situation or potentially unsafe data threats, make it a point to periodically delete history on your personal devices and laptops. If you are using a public computer, do it immediately after you are done browsing. Here’s how it should be done:

How to Delete History on Google Chrome?

1. Deleting history on Google Chrome is very easy. Click on the three horizontal bars on the top-right corner of the browser, go to History, select the pages you want to delete, and click on Clear History button. Alternatively, you can delete the entire browsing history in one click by selecting the option ‘Clear Browsing History’ and select the period.

2. To delete other information such as cookies, auto fill forms, passwords, etc., go to Settings and click on Advanced Settings on the bottom of the page. Click on Privacy Settings, and select the data from the checklist that you want to delete.

3. The best option while using a public computer is to use the browser in Incognito Mode. In this mode, no session data or information is stored in the browser memory.

How to Delete History on Mozilla Firefox?

1. On the top panel of the browser, click on the Menu button and go to the option ‘Clear Recent History.’ If you want to select particular URL links to delete or delete links from a particular time period, click on time range drop-down menu and select the time period. The options are: Last Hour, Last Two Hours, Today, Last Week and Everything.

2. Alternatively, you can go to Options, click on Privacy Panel and select “Firefox will never remember history.” You can even customize it by selecting “Firefox will use custom settings for history,” and select what all information to remember from among the checklist. Some users also keep the setting to “Clear history when Firefox closes.” This ensures that you don’t have to delete history manually on a public computer after your work is over. The moment you close the browser, the session history expires.

3. You can also browse in the Private Mode by selecting a Private Window from the Menu. This ensures that the browser does not store any information for that particular session.

How to Delete History on Internet Explorer?

Though there are many versions of Internet Explorer available, more or less the procedure to delete Internet browsing history remains the same. Go to Tools on the Menu Panel, click on Internet Options from the drop-down menu under Tools. On the General tab there, go to the Browsing History section and click the delete button. You can also select the categories of data you want to delete by checking the boxes.

Similar to laptop, you can also delete browsing history on your mobile devices from the phone settings or separate app settings.

How to Connect a Laptop or PC to TV

Laptop users are often frustrated with their devices’ limited screen size. Not only a small screen size is strenuous for the eyes, it also makes for a sub-par experience when it comes to watching videos and playing games.

In order to avoid such situations, many people have turned to pairing their laptops and TVs for a much smoother experience, especially when it comes to watching multimedia content. If you’re too struggling with a similar challenge or if this is your first time, worry not, you can easily connect your laptop or pc with your LCD or LED TVs in few simple steps as mentioned below:

Through HDMI Port:

Most modern laptops and TVs can be quite easily connected thanks to a common port known as HDMI (Hi-Def Multimedia Interface). In fact, the required HDMI cable is provided along with the devices and they can be connected following simple steps:

  1. Simply plug one end of the cable to the HDMI port of your laptop (refer to laptop manual for details) and the other end to the TV’s HDMI port. The HDMI cable handles both audio and video simultaneously, thus making it the simplest way of connecting the two devices.
  2. You may need to tune into the HDMI channel on your TV (refer to TV manual for details), and your laptop/PC should automatically detect the correct settings and make the necessary changes.

In any case, if the settings are not automatically adjusted, head over to the Control Panel and follow this step:

Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolutions > From the Display drop down box, select TV

Through VGA Port:

For connections where one or both devices lack HDMI ports due to being older models, the VGA port can be used. VGA ports can be connected just like HDMI ports. However, they only handle video input/output. So you would also need an audio lead (generally 3.5 mm) that has to be inserted in the audio out port of your laptop and the audio in port of your TV.

Through USB:

USB connections are also possible, but are a little bit tricky and quite uncommon these days. For this, a USB to HDMI adapter is required, which basically turns the laptop’s USB port into an HDMI out. The adapter must be compatible with the laptop and you may need to manipulate the display settings via software on your laptop.

Wireless connections are uncommon when it comes to TV and laptop pairings. However, they definitely are possible! Intel’s WiDi wireless system is built into some of the latest laptops, and it can be used to connect with the TV. However, a compatible receiver is required.

Expensive propositions include wireless systems that separately, but simultaneously, are plugged into the laptop’s USB port and TV’s HDMI port, thereby connecting the two devices.

While wireless options have been developed to view and experience laptop content on TV, the wired options are definitely much better as far as signal quality is concerned. Wireless connections are known to hit video quality drastically, but connections using wires can be trusted to experience the best output.
